Old Vine Barossa Grenache
Welcome to Vinya Vella.
Vinya Vella means "old vineyard" in Catalan, which is a homage to the old Grenache vines of Spain where I (Dylan Grigg) worked and lived with my wife Natasha and our young family, cementing a love of the variety.
Vinya Vella is the name we chose for our families small 6 hectare vineyard in the Barossa Valley. The site is planted exclusively to Grenache with both young and very old vines (>100 years). It is here, in the Barossa Valley where my ancestors settled and I grew up as a child, it is also where I humbly started my viticultural career. These years building practical skills on the ground and in tractors combine with my academic pursuit of viticulture and PhD studies into old vines allow me to nurture the land and vines that make Vinya Vella special.
The leap to buy this old parcel and make wine was aided by the encouragement and support of our family and friends, you know who you are. With this support we did not have a doubt to go down this path, we are proud of what we have been able to achieve so far and look forward to sharing the long term journey with these already old vines and our new wines.
Vinya Vella Shortlisted for Best New Winery!!!
With surprise and excitement we discovered that we have been selected in the top 8 new wineries in Australia's most prestigious wine publication, Halliday Wine Companion.
