Bush Vine Rosé 2026

This Rosé is made from predominately Grenache, there are a few Mataro and 3 Muscat vines also. All are growing on small bush vines in our fine sand at Vine Vale. This is an intentional Rosé, not juice drained off red grapes. These vines are managed and harvested with the intention of making a savoury, food friendly style of dry and textural Rosé that suits any dish or occasion. Chill it down or add an ice-cube, just enjoy.

 

Viticulture

Fruit from a small section of own-rooted Grenache and Mataro bush vines on deep sand, plus three Muscat vines and one Tinta Caida. Hand pruned, carefully thinned and hand picked. This is from our younger 1990s plantings. The block is pruned and managed for rosé from the outset. Vines are left with a higher bud number than those destined for red wine, which slows shoot growth, sugar accumulation and colour development. The higher crop load per vine keeps acidity up and lets us pick early, before the fruit gets too sweet or too coloured.

Winemaking

Picked on 26th February 2026 (exactly the same day as out 2024 version)

Fruit was hand harvested and whole bunches crushed and left on skin for 72 hours before pressing. Fermentation was in stainless steel and remained in stainless steel until bottling.
